Bio

Born and raised within the Anglican tradition, Fr. Jay Mueller, originally from Liberal, Kansas is rector/vicar of Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Fr. Jay was ordained to the diaconate in 2007 at the First Parish Church in Brunswick, Maine by the Rt. Rev. Rusty Smith and the Rt. Rev. David Bellville. Two years later in August 2009 he was ordained to the priesthood at the Dominican Retreat House in Albuquerque, New Mexico by the Rt. Rev. Rusty Smith.  Fr. Jay has been active with the Chapel of the Holy Spirit faith community since its inception and was an original member of St. Stephen's Anglican Spirituality Center in Albuquerque planted by Rt. Rev. Rusty Smith in 1999. Fr. Jay's formation included coursework from the Anglican Institute of Affirmative Christian Studies.

Fr. Jay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with minors in Military Science and Political Science, a Master of Arts in Public Affairs with concentration in Political and Governmental Processes both from New Mexico Highlands University and a Juris Doctorate and Certificate in Indian Law from the University of New Mexico School of Law. In secular life, Fr. Jay practices law in Albuquerque focusing on the fields of Family Law, Child Welfare Law and occasionally delving into the intersection of these fields with Native American Tribal and Federal Indian Law. Fr. Jay's spiritual interests include liberation theology, contemplative prayer, and exploring other faith traditions.

Fr. Jay is joined in life with his partner Melissa and two sons Allan and Damon.
